Given:

Observations: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15

To find:

The mean of new observations

Solution:

The mean of new observations is 11.

We can find the mean by following the steps given below-

We know that the terms have been increased by 2.

The observations given are-

3, 6, 9, 12, 15

On adding 2 to each term, the new observations become-

3+2, 6+2, 9+2, 12+2, 15+2

5, 8, 11, 14, 17

The mean of the new observations=Sum of new observations/ Number of observations

The number of observations=5

The sum of all new observations=5+8+11+14+17=55

On putting the values, we get

=55/5

=11

The mean=11

Therefore, the mean of new observations is 11.
