Step-by-step explanation:

Given -

2x - y = 2

5x + 2y = 14

To Find -

  • Value of x + y

Now,

By Elimination method :-

→ [ 2x - y = 2 ] × 2

[ 5x + 2y = 14 ] × 1

→ 4x - 2y = 4

5x + 2y = 14

___________

→ 9x = 18

→ x = 18/9

x = 2

Now, Substituting the value of x on 2x - y = 2, we get :

→ 2(2) - y = 2

→ 4 - 2 = y

y = 2

The value of x is 2 and y is 2

Then, The value of x + y is

→ 2 + 2

→ 4

Hence,

The value of x + y is 4
