numerical value of x = 13 if  3,8,9,10,x 14,16,18,20are in ascending order and their median is 13

Step-by-step explanation:

3, 8, 9, 10, x , 14, 16, 18, 20 are in ascending order

Total Number = 9

Median will be  = (9 + 1)/2 = 5th Number

5th Number = x

=> Median = x

Median = 13

=> x = 13

numerical value of x = 13

\tt Given \begin{cases} \sf{3,8,9,10,x,14,16,18,20 \: are \: in \:ascending \: order.}  \\  \sf{Median \: is \: 13.}\end{cases}

To Find :

We have to find value of x.

Solution :

Total Numbers(n) is 9.

Note : When our numbers are in the odd then the formula got changed. We will add 1 to the Formula.

So,

\Large{\star{\underline{\boxed{\sf{Median = \frac{n + 1}{2} term}}}}}

(Putting Values)

13 = (9 + 1)/2

13 = 5th term

x = 13

\large{\star{\underline{\boxed{\sf{x = 13}}}}}

Additional information :

  • When the Number of terms are even then, Formula = (n)/2
  • When the number of terms are odd then, Formula = (n + 1)/2
  • For finding the median firstly we have to set then in ascending or descending order.
  • When we apply the formula we get the term not the answer.
