3 \div 4 \times x + 1 - 1 \div 2 = x - 1

3x \div 4 + 1 \div 2 = x - 1

3x - x =  - 1 \div 2 - 1

 - x \div 4 =  - 3 \div 2

cross multiplication

-2x=-12x

x=6

Given,

  • 3/4 (x+1) -1/2 = x-1 is given.

To find,

  • Value of x

Solution,

If 3/4 (x+1) -1/2 = x-1 then x equals 5.

We can simply find the value of x by simplifying the expression.

         3/4(x+1) -1/2 = x-1

Taking LCM, we get

           (3x+3-2)/4 = x-1

Cross multiplying both sides, we get

            3x + 3-2 = 4(x-1)

                3x + 1 = 4x-4

                3x -4x = -4-1

                       -x = -5

                         x = 5

Hence, if 3/4 (x+1) -1/2 = x-1 then x equals 5.
