SOLUTION

GIVEN

(3k, 4k-1) is a solution of the linear equation

x + y = 6

TO DETERMINE

The value of k

EVALUATION

Here the given equation of the line is

 \sf{x + y = 6 \:  \:  \:  \: ....(1)}

Since (3k, 4k-1) is a solution of the linear equation

So the point will satisfy the equation (1)

 \sf{ \therefore \:  \: 3k + 4k - 1 = 6}

 \sf{ \implies \:  \: 7k - 1 = 6}

 \sf{ \implies \:  \: 7k = 7}

 \sf{ \implies \:  \: k = 1}

FINAL ANSWER

The required value of k is 1

Given : Equation is = x + y = 6 ………(1)

(3k, 4k - 1) is one solution of the above given equation .

To find: The value of k.

Solution:

It is given that (3k, 4k - 1) is a solution of the equation then it must satisfy the given equation (1) .

Here, x = 3k and y = 4k - 1

Now put these values in equation (1), we get:

x + y = 6

3k + 4k - 1 = 6

7k - 1 = 6

7k = 6 + 1

7k = 7

k = 7/7

k = 1

Hence, the value of k is 1.
