sol:-

Adding the equation

3x + 2y = 13

+ 3x - 2y = 5

6x = 18

x = 18/6 = 3

x= 3

substituting in 3x + 2y = 13

3× 3 + 2y = 13

9 + 2y = 13

2y = 13 - 9

2y = 4

y = 4/2 = 2

y = 2

now, x + y = 3 + 2 = 5
