Given :

  • (4,-2)is the mid point of the line segment joining (3,-2) and (x,-2)

To find :

  • the value of x.

Solution :

It is given that (4,-2)is the mid point of the line segment joining (3,-2) and (x,-2).

Now we will find the value of x.

 \sf \bigg( \dfrac{3 + x}{2} , \: \dfrac{ - 2 - 2}{2} \bigg) =\bigg( 4 , \: - 2\bigg)

Therefore now :-

\sf \implies \dfrac{3 + x}{2} = 4

 \sf \implies \dfrac{3 + x}{1} = 4 \times 2

\sf \implies {3 + x} =8

\sf \implies {x} =8 - 3

\sf \implies { x} =5

Answer :

  • The value of x = 5
