According to question :-

40% of 70 is y more than 30% of 80 means :-

40/100 x 70 = 30/100 x 80 + y

[ 100 for percentage and we add y in 30% of 80 because 40% of 70 is more. So, to make them equal we add y in 30% of 80 ]

4 x 7 = 3 x 8 + y

28 = 24 + y

- y = 24 - 28

- y = - 4

y = 4.
