Answer: 360

Step-by-step explanation:

40% of a number = 40x/100

25% of a number = 25x/100

Exceeds by 54

The equation becomes

(40x/100) - (25x/100) = 54

15x/100 = 54

x= 5400/15

x= 360

Given:

it is given 40% of number is exceeding 25% of same number by 54.

To Find :

Find the number?

Explanation:

  • Let the number is x.
  • We can write from the given equation \bf (\frac{40}{100})x=54+(\frac{25}{100})x

Now

        \bf (\frac{40}{100})x=54+(\frac{25}{100})x

         \bf\frac{40x}{100}-\frac{25x}{100}=54

  • Take the LCM of left hand side

           \bf\Rightarrow\frac{40x-25x}{100}=54

  • On solving above equation

                 \bf\Rightarrow\frac{15x}{100}=54

  •  By cross multiply the above equation

             \bf\Rightarrow15x=54\times100\\\\\bf\Rightarrow\ x=\frac{54\times100}{15}

  •  On cancelling the terms

            \BF\ x=18\times20\\\\\bf\Rightarrow\ x=360

 Hence , the  number is 360.
