Given,
mass of methane=40g
Now,
from the chemical reaction CH4+2O2......>CO2+2H2O
(40g)
Gram molar mass of methane=16g
and Gram molar mass of CO2=44g
So,
16g of methane produces CO2=44g
Therefore,40g of methane produces CO2
=44/16×40=110g.
Hence,Ans is 110gm

Hope it helps

Answer:

The amount of carbon dioxide produced by burning of 40g of methane is equal to 110grams.

Explanation:

The combustion reaction of methane:

        CH_{4}+2O_{2}   →  CO_{2}+2H_{2}O

In the above reaction 1 mole of methane is produced 1 mole of carbon dioxide

The molecular weight of methane= 16g

molecular weight of  CO₂ = 44g

16g of methane produced = 44g of CO₂

40g of  methane produced =(40)(\frac{44}{16})=110grams of CO₂
