Answer:

x = 0 and y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

given both equation

4x + 5y = 10. (1)

5x + 4y = 8. (2)

after taking their LCM , new equation should be

( 4x + 5y = 10 ) x 5

( 5x + 4y = 8 ) x 4

we'll get,

20x + 25y = 50. (3)

20x + 16y = 32. (4)

Subtracting (3) and (4)

20x + 25y = 50

20x + 16y = 32

- - -

+ 9y = + 18

y = + 2

Substituting the value of 'y ' in eq(1),

4x + 5y = 10

4x + 5(2) = 10

4x + 10 = 10

4x = 10 - 10

4x = 0

x = 0

Therefore the value of 'x' is 0 and the value of 'y' is 2
