=> (4x + 7)/3 = (3x - 2)/4 + 1/2

=> (4x + 7)/3 = (3x - 2 + 2)/4

=> (4x + 7)/3 = 3x/4

{ on cross-multiplication }

=> 4•(4x + 7) = 3•3x

=> 16x + 28 = 9x

=> 16x - 9x = -28

=> 7x = -28

=> x = -28/7

=> x = -4
