formula
(a-b)(a+b)=a^2-b^2
so.................
5^2-√3^2=25-x^2
25-3=25-x^2
so................
x^2=3
x= \sqrt{3}

for (5+√3)(5-√3) is a formula(x+y)(x-y) = x^2-y^2

We will have
(5+√3)(5-√3)  = 5^2-(√3)^2 = so, x=√3
