Given,

  • 5^{p-8} = 1 is given.

To find,

  • We have to find the value of p.

Solution,

We can simply find the value of p by using the laws of exponents.

It is given that 5^{p-8} = 1 we have to find the value of p.

Now, observe the RHS of the given equation, we can write it as 5^0.

As we know,

                 a^0 = 1   (*)

                  5^{p-8} = 1

Now, using (*), we get

                  5^{p-8} = 5^0

As we know, the same bases have the same powers, then equating the powers of the same base, we get

                   p-8 = 0

Now, transposing -8 from LHS to RHS, we get

                         p = 8

Hence, if 5^{p-8} = 1 then the value of p is 8.
