Reaction:

2H2 + O2 == 2H2O

(2 vol.) (1 vol.) (2 vol.)


2 volumes of hydrogen require 1 volume of oxygen to form 2 volumes of water vapour

1 volume of hydrogen will require = 1/2 volumes of oxygen

50 mL of hydrogen require = ( 1/2 )*50

= 25 mL of oxygen

2 volumes of hydrogen forms 2 volumes of water vapour hence 50 mL of hydrogen will form 50 mL of water vapour

The remaining oxygen = 30 mL - 25 mL

= 5mL


The volume of product =

50 mL of water vapour and,

5 mL of oxygen
