Hey there !

Solution:

Given: x² + 3x + 1 = 0

To check whether 5 is the zero of the equation.

Verification:

f ( x ) = 5

=> f ( 5 ) = 5² + 3 ( 5 ) + 1

=> f ( 5 ) = 25 + 15 + 1

=> f ( 5 ) = 41

But 41 is not equal to 0.

Hence 5 is not the zero of the equation.

Hope my answer helped !

Heya

⏩If 5 is a zero of the polynomial, then it can make the whole polynomial equal to zero.⏪

f(x) = x^2 + 3x + 1

Putting x = 5

f(5) = (5)^2 + 3(5) + 1

f(5) = 25 + 15 + 1

f(5) = 41

f(5) ≠ 0

Hence, 5 is not a zero of the polynomial x^2 + 3x + 1

Hope this helps you.
