F₂ = 15 N

To Find :

(a) Resultant Force

(b) Direction of action of the resultant force

Solution :

(a) As the forces are acting opposite to each other. Therefore, the resultant force can be given as -

Resultant Force (F) = F₁ + F₂

                                = -5 + (15)

                                =  10 N

Therefore, the resultant force is 10 N

(b) As 15 N > 5 N, the resultant force is towards F₂.

Thus, The direction of action of force is towards the force 15 N.
