it is given that,

60% of (x - y) = 40% of (x + y)

⇒60/100 × (x - y) = 40/100 × (x + y)

⇒3(x - y) = 2(x + y)

⇒3x - 3y = 2x + 2y

⇒3x - 2x = 2y + 3y

⇒x = 5y .......(1)

we have to find percentage of x is equal to y.

i.e., let r % of x = y

⇒r × x/100 = y

from equation (1),

⇒r × (5y)/100 = y

⇒r/20 = 1

⇒ r = 20%

hence, 20% of x is y.

AnswEr :

➟ 60% of (x - y) = 40% of (x + y)

Dividing Each term by 20%

➟ 3 × (x - y) = 2 × (x + y)

➟ 3x - 3y = 2x + 2y

➟ 3x - 2x = 2y + 3y

x = 5y

Percentage of x is y.

➟ x = 5y

➟ x × 100 = 5y [ For Changing it into % ]

x of 20% = y
