IF 8 apples were disterbuted for 7 children and two are left still how is that possible

He must have given 5 whole apples to his 5 children and 2 half of an apple to the other two children(5+1/2+1/2)=6apples.so therefore 2 apples are left

After distributing he has given away 6, hence is left with 8-6=2 apples.
