Solution:-

we have,  

→a + (1/a) = 1  

(taking LCM)  

→(a²+1)/a = 1  

(cross multiplying)  

→ a² + 1 = a  

→ a²+ 1 - a = 0 -------- equation(1)

We have to find  

→a³ + 1  

→a³ + (1)³  

(using algebraic identity  

x³+y³ = (x + y) (x²+y²- xy )

→ (a+1)(a²+1-a)  

(by equation (1) )  

→ (a+1) (0) = 0

Therefore a³ + 1 = 0. (ANS.)
