If a - 1/a = 7, Find 1. (a + 1/a) 2. (a2 - 1/a2)

we have

a-1/a=7

squaring both sides

(a-1/a)²=49

(a+1/a)²-4=49

(a+1/a)²=53

a+1/a=√53

Now a²-1/a²=(a-1/a)(a+1/a)

➡a²-1/a²=7√53
