if a+1/ a=m find in term`m` the value of a-1/a

a +1/a = m

Square on both sides,

(a+1/a)^2 = m^2 

a^2 +1/a^2 +2 [a×1/a] = m^2

a^2 +1/a^2 +2 =m^2

a^2 +1/a^2 =m^2 -2

Now,

Subtract 2[a ×1/a] from both sides,


a^2 +1/a^2 -2 = m^2 -2 -2 

a^2 + 1/a^2  -2 =m^2 -4 

(a-1/a)^2 =m^2 - 4


(a-1/a)=  \sqrt{m^2 -4}


a-1/a =  \sqrt{m^2 -4}
