Explanation:

a+b = 3i+4j-12k

so magnitude of any 3D vector -

 \sqrt{x.x \:  + y.y \:  + z.z}

so here x= 3 , y= 4 , z= -12

so ans= underroot of : -(9+16+144)

:- undereoot of 169

:- 13.

Answer:

If a=2i + j -8k and b= i + 3j -4k then the magnitude of a + b = 13.

Explanation:

Given a=2i + j - 8k and b= I + 3j - 4k

then, at that point,

a + b = 2i + j - 8k + I + 3j - 4k

a + b = 3i + 4j - 12k

so magnitude of any 3D vector -

so here x= 3 , y= 4 , z= - 12

so magnitude of a+ b = \sqrt{9+16+144

                                    = \sqrt{169}

                                    = 13.
