If A (-5,5), B(6,5) ,C (-3,5) ,D(0,5), then answer the following questions.

i) What is the nature of line passing through points A,B,C and D?ii) What is the distance of this line from X-axis?

iii) Write the equation of the line passing through these points.​

Answer:

(i) nature of the line is that it is parallel to x axis as the y coordinate is same for A, B, C, D

(ii) distance of the line from x axis is 5 as the distance between 2 lines is the perpendicular distance between them and here one line is x axis and we know that the y axis is perpendicular to the x axis therefore the y coordinate of the line given is the perpendicular distance . here, the y coordinate is 5.

(iii) for equation, we can use the 2 point form of a line that is (y-y1)/(x-x1)=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

here point A(-5,5) is (x1, y1) and B(6,5) is (x2, y2).

Now (y-5)/[x-(-5)]=(5-5)/[6-(-5)]

therefore (y-5)/(x+5)=0

(y-5)=0

y=5

Therefore, Equation of the line is y=5
