Question

If a and b are the 0 of the polynomial 2x2 +5x+1 then find the value of a+b+ab is ?

Solution

Given :-

  • polynomial , 2x² + 5x + 1 = 0
  • a & b are two zeros .

Find :-

  • Value of a + b + ab

Explanation

Using Formula

Sum of Zeroes = ( Coefficient of x)/(Coefficient of x²)

Product of zeroes = (Constant part )/(Coefficient of x)

So,

==> Sum of Zeroes = -5/2

[ a & b are zeroes ]

==> a + b = -5/2 -----------equ(1)

And,

==> Product of zeroes = 1/2

==> a.b = 1/2 ----------------equ(2)

So, Now Calculate

==> a + b + ab

==> (-5/2) + (1/2)

==> - 2.5 + 0.5

==> -2.0 [ Ans ]
