The required value of x = 4

Given :

a and b vary inversely

a/b

50/2

25/x

To find :

The value of x

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Form the equation

a and b vary inversely

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies a \propto \:  \frac{1}{b} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies a  =  \:  \frac{k}{b} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies ab = k \:  \:  \:  \:  -  -  - (1)}

Where k is non zero constant

Step 2 of 3 :

Find the value of k

a = 50 when b = 2

From Equation 1 we get

50 × 2 = k

⇒ k = 10

From Equation 1 we get

\displaystyle \sf{  ab = 100 \:  \:  \:  \:  -  -  - (2)}

Step 3 of 3 :

Find the value of x

Putting a = 25 and b = x in Equation 2 we get

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 25x = 100 \:  }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x = 4 \:  }

The required value of x = 4
