SOLUTION

CORRECT QUESTION

If A and G are A.M and G.M respectively of the numbers 4 and 16 find A - G

EVALUATION

Here the given numbers are 4 and 16

Now

Arithmetic mean ( A.M ) is given by

 \displaystyle \sf{ A =  \frac{4 + 16}{2} =  \frac{20}{2} = 10 }

Geometric mean ( G.M) is given by

 \sf{G =  \sqrt{4 \times 16} =  \sqrt{64} = 8  }

Hence A - G = 10 - 8 = 2
