We can model this population using the following equation :

N(t) = N°e^kt

N(t) = population at time t

N° = initial population.

k = growth rate

t = time

A decade has 10 years.

In our case :

N(10) = 224445

N° = 122345

t = 10

Doing the substitution we have :

224445 = 122345e^10k

224445/122345 = e^10k

1.8345 = e^10k

Taking ln on both sides we have :

0.6068 = 10k

k = 0.06068

= 6.068%
