a=b+2

ab=3

(b+2)b=3

b {}^{2}  + 2b - 3 = 0 \\ b {}^{2}  + 3b - b - 3 = 0 \\ b(b + 3) - 1(b + 3) = 0 \\ (b + 3)(b - 1) = 0 \\

b=-3,a=-1

b=1,a=3

a {}^{2}  + b {}^{2} \\ =  1 + 9 \\  = 10

 {(a - b)}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2} - 2ab

 {2}^{2}  =  {a}^{2} +  {b}^{2}  - 2 \times 3

4 =  {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  - 6

 {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  = 4 + 6

 {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  = 10
