a:b= b:c
means a/b = b/c
= ac = b^2
now take
L.H.S = (a+b+c)(a-b+c)
=(a+c + b ) ( a+ c - b)
= (a+c)^2 -(b)^2
= a^2+ c^2 + 2ac- b^2
= a^2 + c^2 + 2b^2- b^2. (since ac = b^2)
= a^2+ b^2 + c^2
= R.H.S
L.HS.= R.H.S PROVED
