if A, B, C, D are four numbers such that A:B=2:3,B:C=4:5,C:D=5:8, THEN A:D=?​

Given :

A:B = 2:3

B:C = 4:5

C:D = 5:8

To find : A:D =?

METHOD :

  • A = 2 - - - - ( given )
  • D = 8 - - - - ( given)
  • A:D = 2:8

Ans : 2:8

Given,

A:B=2:3 ________(i)

B:C=4:5 ________(ii)

C:D=5:8 ________(iii)

Let in eq.(i)

A=2x and B=3x

Now, multiplying by 4 in eq.(i)

A=8x and B=12x

And, multiplying by 3 in eq.(ii)

B=12x and C=15x

So, A:B:C=8x:12x:15x

Again, multiplying by 3 in eq.(iii)

C=15x and D=24x

Therefore,

A:B:C:D=8x:12x:15x:24x

A:B:C:D=8:12:15:24

Thus, A:D=16:24
