If a:b=c:d, then prove that 5a+4b:b=5c+4d:d

Solution:

It is given that,

a:b = c:d

=> (a/b) = (c/d)----(1)

Now,

LHS = 5a+4b : b

= 5a/b + 4b/b

= 5(c/d) + 4

= 5c/d + 4

= (5c+4d)/d

= 5c+4d:d

Therefore,

5a+4b:b=5c+4d:d
