put the values we get

(a+b )^2 = 10 + 2×4.

a+b = √18

now (a-b)^2 = a^2 +b^2 -2ab

( a-b)^2 = 10 - 2×4

a-b. = √2

now 3(a+b)2 -2(a-b). = (3 ×√18 ×2 ) -( 2 ×√2). = 18√2 - 2√2. = 16√2.
