Provided that:

  • Distance = 5 metre
  • Time = 10 seconds

To calculate:

  • The speed in m/s
  • The speed in cm/s

Solution:

  • The speed in m/s = 0.5 m/s
  • The speed in cm/s = 50 cm/s

Using concepts:

  • Speed formula
  • Formula to convert m into cm

Using formulas:

  • Speed = Distance/Time
  • 1 m = 100 cm

Required solution:

Finding speed in metre per second!

→ Speed = Distance/Time

→ Speed = 5/10

→ Speed = 0.5 metre per second

Finding speed in cm per second!

~ Firstly let us convert m-cm!

→ 1 metre = 100 centimetres

→ 5 metre = 5 × 100 centimetres

→ 5 metre = 500 centimetres

~ Now let's calculate speed!

→ Speed = Distance/Time

→ Speed = 500/10

→ Speed = 50 cm per second! \:
