Given info : If a force of 50N is applied on a box from left side and a force of 35N is applied from right hand side.

To find : The resultant force on the box is ...

solution : we know, force is a vector quantity. it has magnitude and direction.

so we can't apply normal algebraic identities to find resultant of force. we'll have to use vector concept to find resultant.

a/c to question, a force, F₁ = 50 N is applied on a box from left side.

so we can say, F₁ = 50 N (from left side)

The other force, F₂ = 35 N is applied on the box from right side.

so we can say, F₂ = 35N (from right side)

now resultant of forces = F₁ + F₂

= 50 N (from left side) + 35 N (from right side)

= 50N (from left side) - 35 N (from left side)

= 15 N (from left side)

Therefore resultant force of 15N is applied on the box from left side.
