if a freely falling body covers half of its distance in the last second of the journey . find its time of fall​

H = total distance of fall

H = 1/2 g T^2    where T is total time of fall

H/2 = 1/2 g t^2   where t is time for first half of fall

T - t = 1       time for last half of fall

2 = T^2 / t^2     dividing equations

T = 2^1/2 t

t = T - 1  = 2^1/2 t - 1

t ( 2^1/2 - 1) = 1  

t = 2.414 sec

T = 3.414 sec     total time of fall

H/2 = 1/2 * 10 * 2.414^2 = 29.1 m

H = 1/2 * 10 * 3.414^2 = 58.3 m
