If a friend claims that in a standing jump he can remain off the ground for 1.0 second, then how high can he jump? For 2.0 seconds? Are either of these claims likely to be true?

Answer:

1.25 meters

in second case 5 meters

Explanation:

by using the formula: s=ut + 1\2at2

s= jumping distance

v = u + at

0= u - 5

u =5

a= -10

t=0.5 sec ( half of jumping time )

s= 1.25
