If a half solid cylinder is of base diameter 3 cm and length 2.5 cm, find the total surface area using π = 22/7.​

Given, base diameter = d = 3 cm (radius = r = 3/2 cm)

           length = h = 2.5 cm (h = 5/2 cm)

TSA of Half Cylinder = Area of Curved Surface + Area of Rectangle Face

Area of Curved Face = 1/2 x 2\pir(r+h) = \pir(r+h)

                                    =22/7 x 3/2 x (3/2 + 5/2)

                                    = 22/7 x 3/2 x 7/2 = 462/28 = 33/2 = 16.5 sq.cm

Area of Rectangle Face = diameter x height

                                        = 3 x 5/2 = 15/2 = 7.5 sq.cm

Thus, TSA = 16.5 + 7.5 = 24 sq.cm
