cos A = 4 / 5

base / hypotenuse = 4 / 5



Let base be 4x and hypotenuse by 5x,


\:\:\:By\: Pythagoras\: Theorem


hypotenuse² = height ² + base²

( 5x )² = height² + ( 4x )²

25x² = height² + 16x²

9x² = height²

3x = height



Therefore,

cot A= \dfrac{base}{height}=\dfrac{4x}{3x}=\dfrac{4}{3}
