If leaf is covered by vaseline then its stomata are get closed or blocked.and therefore it will not remain healthy for a long time. This is because plant will not get oxygen for respiration. it will not get carbon dioxide for photosynthesis.

The chemical composition of Vaseline contains the residue and compounds of petrol and its product which is very harmful for the plants and these composition can dry up a plant if applied on their leaves.

The plant will not remain healthy because vaseline would form a layer on the leaves and would affect the plant in the following ways :

  • It would block the stomata and as a result, no gaseous exchange and transpiration would take place.
  • There would be no food movement of water and minerals as there would be no transpiration . It would further affect the process of photosynthesis. Hence, plant will not remain healthy and would die eventually .
