Hey there !

Solution:

Man goes towards North with a distance of 10 m. And then he turns towards East and starts waking 20 m.

So the displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final point. In this case, Birth and East are perpendicular. Hence the shortest distance would be a line connecting the ends forming a right angled triangle in which the line joining is the hypotenuse of the right triangle.

Hence hypotenuse is square root of Sum of two side's measure.

=> Hypotenuse = ✓ 10^2 + 20^2

=> Hypotenuse = ✓ 100 + 400

=> Hypotenuse = ✓ 500 = 10 ✓ 5 m

Hence the displacement is 10 ✓ 5 m.

✓5 is actually 2.23

So the answer in decimal would be 10 * 2.23 which is 22.3 m

Hope my answer helped !
