a is the correct answer

adityamainde143: so explain it
rohit562: first of all find the P.E .The K.E =P.E . Therefore P.E =4000. K.E is also equal to P.E . Now by puting the formula of K.E. we will able to find the velocity

Potential Energy = mass * height * acceleration due to gravity
= 4* 100 * 10 [ g ]
= 4000 J.
Now,
The potential energy of the mass at rest at 100 metre height will be the same as the kinetic energy of the mass when it will touch the ground.

So, Kinetic energy = Potential Energy
Kinetic energy = 4000 J.
1/2 * mass * velocity^2= 4000 J
1/2 * 4 * velocity^2 = 4000 J
Velocity^2 = 2000 J
Velocity = 20 root 5 m/s
Velocity of the mass when it touches the surface will be 20 root 5 = 44.6 m/s.

So,approximately the answer will be

a) 44.27 m/s as we got the velocity as 44.6 m/s.

We did not get the exact answer as we used g [ acceleration due to gravity as 10 m/s^2 and not 9.8 m/s^2 ]

hope this really helps you........
