So the question is if a-b=6, and a^2+b^2=2, find ab.

Ans) a-b=6

Squaring both sides,

(a-b)^2 = 36

a^2 - 2ab + b^2 = 36

2 - 2ab = 36 [Because a^2+b^2=2]

2ab = -34

ab = -17
