When particle move with constant angular velocity, it's linear velocity is obtained by drawing tangent at that point. We see that direction of tangent changes at every other point I.e. velocity changes at every point on circle. Velocity is vector, change in velocity per time is acceleration.

Hence though particle is in uniform circular motion, it has acceleration directed towards center along radius. This acceleration is centripetal acceleration or radial acceleration.

Uniform circular motion is accelerated motion and in accelerated motion there exists a pseudo force. In circular motion pseudo force is directed away from center , along radius. This force is called as centrifugal force.

There are many applications of centrifugal force such as centrifuge, used in medical field, in dairy, dryer in washing machine etc.
