If a particle is moving along straight line with increasing speed,then why is the change in Velocity ?

If a Particle is moving in astraight line with increasing speed then there will be no change in the velocity as velocity is displacement/time and it is a vector quantity thus only if there is a change in direction or magnitude then only vector's value changes i.e velocity.
