Answer:

M does the work in 5 days

If I have to divide work in 5 days

1/5+1/5+1/5+1/5+1/5(1/5 work everyday, if you add all, you get 5/5=1 that is complete work)

i.e. M can do 1/5 work in a day.

M and S can do the work in 3 days

#M and S altogether will do 1/3 work in a day.

The work done by M and S in a day is

Work of M in a day+Work of S in a day

1/M+1/S=1/3(From #)

We know 1/M=1/5, putting value

1/5+1/S=1/3

1/S=1/3–1/5

1/S=2/15

1/S=1/7.5

That means S in one day can do 1/7.5 work

Which means S i.e. son will do the work independently in 7.5 days
