Answer:

Total number of pets=50

number of breads he fed them daily=210

let the number of cats be x and the number of dogs be y.

ATQ,

x+y=50

=>x=50-y(eq. 1)

also,

3x+5y=210 (eq.2)

By substitution method, put the value of x from equation 1 in equation 2

=>3(50-y)+5y=210

=>150-3y+5y=210

=>2y=60

=>y=30

Now, put the value of y in equation 1

x=50-30

=>x=20

hence, he have 20 cats and 30 dogs

Answer:

dogs = 30

cats = 20

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the no of cats and y be the no of dogs.

now,    x + y = 50 ...... (i)

he fed 3 pieces of bread to each cat, so the no of breads fed to all cats is 3x and accordingly no of breads fed to all dogs is 5y

the total no of breads fed = 210

therefore, 3x + 5y = 210.....(ii)

now multiplying eqn. (i) by 3,

3 ( x + y ) = 3 x 50

or, 3x + 3y = 150.....(iii)

subtracting eqn (iii) from (iv)

(3x+5y)-(3x+3y)=210-150=60

or, 2y = 60

or, y = 30

therefore no of dogs 30 and no of cats (50-30)= 20
