answer:

Height of plane above the sea level - 5000

Floating a submarine below the sea level -1200

∴The vertical distance between the plane and the submarine - 5000+1200

Thus, the vertical distance between the plane and the submarine is 6200 m.

Answer :–

6,200 is the vertical distance between a plane and a submarine.

Given :–

  • Distance of plane from the sea level = 5,000 m. [it is positive because it is in above direction]
  • Distance of subamrine from the sea level = -800 m [it is negative because it is in the below direction]

To Find :–

  • The vertical distance between a plane and a submarine.

Solution :–

Distance between them = Distance of a plane from sea level – Distance of a submarine from the sea level

→ 5,000 - (-800)

[open the brackets]

→ 5,000 + 800

→ 5,800

Hence,

The vertical distance between them is 5,800 m.
