4x4 - 4x3 - 35x2 + px - q is exactly divisible by 4x2 - 4x + 1. ⇒ The remiander when 4x4 - 4x3 - 35x2 + px - q is divided by 4x2 - 4x + 1 is zero. Remainder = (p - 36)x + (q - 9) (p - 36) = 0 ⇒ p = 36 (q - 9) = 0 ⇒ q = 9 Hence, the values of p and q are 36 and 9
