let side of square be a, length of rectangle be l and breadth of rectangle be b
perimeter of square= perimeter of rectangle
4 × a = 2(l+b)
2a = l+b
a = (l+b) ÷2
area of square = (l^2 +b^2 +2lb) ÷2
=lb+l^2+b^2
area of rectangle = lb
therefore it is proved that area of square is more than that of rectangle.
